Adjutant Mike - September news
Your NCCVC ... Nevada County Consolidated Veterans Council .... has had some interesting meetings in the past year. We've come up with some good ideas that we think can bond all the organizations and its' members. Every organization shares members. What we don't necessarily share are solutions to problems which are common amongst us.
Fund raising is another common topic. Each organization tries like heck to support it's members and Veterans in our community. Each organization does. We all are part of the VSO's efforts to do the same with families and Veterans that office encounters. The general conclusions from these meetings is we should team up and raise some funds. To make the team up efficient we should have a common members meeting to share ideas.
The past year has also seen our unity work well for all the Organizations. The monthly NCCVC meetings have grown in County attendance because they see ... doing right by us, does right for them. This next monthly meeting will not only have the County present but also the City because they too are looking to support us. I've had a few conversations on just how to honor our Veterans and recognize the history of this Post. Stay tuned because we are moving forward.
Lastly ... last year's County support for our Armed Forces Day celebration at the Airport vanished. The County has funded our VSO to allow it to happen in 2026 and current management is in support.
All Good.
Here's portions of a note from the VFW's Jeff Tynan for a little taste of goings on ....
My Brothers and Sisters,
Thank you all for being there today, Dick in spirit!
Yes, I too believe that this was a very fruitful meeting! We, WE, were able to share our group and organizational concerns, and I am thankful that it was so amicable. I feared it would have been a bit "spicy" but having Supervisor Lisa there really set a positive tone.
What I thought would have been a contentious meeting about who told who what and when, it was met with what I saw as a collaborative effort from Justin and Patto ensure, as Mike said "Doing Right by us Veterans". Now let's see ifwe are actually invited to the County planning meetings, I will follow up with Justin and Pat to ensure that we get that seat at the table, or at least in the room.
Mike, I will share the Gym Membership with the Post at our next stated meeting, as well as having a semi-annual group meeting with all Vet Orgs. Maybe a dinner and access to Oral' s Bunker would draw us all in as I believe the united front carries a lot of weight in the eyes of the County. Could you imagine what we could get done if they saw the GV upstairs filled with Veterans and their families .
Next, yes, lets couple our community service with the County PR folks, that way we can get our names out and not have to work too hard writing articles ... To that end, the Post will be send our Year in Review to the County and Newsletters/ Agenda to showcase what we do on a regular basis.
We have made a huge stride in being recognized today, y'all. Let's keep the momentum going my Brothers and Sisters!!!
I truly LOVE working with ally' all and look forward to making life better for our Veterans and their families!
God Bless,
Jeff
