Adjutant Mike - October news 2025

Last month I provided a little news about the discussions myself and NCCVC have had with the City of Grass Valley and Nevada County. Both Government bodies and personnel have been extremely supportive of our local Veterans, their organizations and our active military.

Here's some details and examples of what our goals are together ...

#1

We are soliciting your input on the theme and contents of a mural to be applied to the back of the Grass Valley Veterans Building. What you see above is only an example to get your brain ticking. Obviously, we want to include all branches. I think we should portray the various eras we represent and have been present in Grass Valley and Nevada County. WWI, WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Enduring freedom, Iraqi freedom as obvious examples.

Let's not leave anyone out.

Once we gather the range and ideas they will be presented to various artists and we will solicit their ideas and concepts. The City, the County and our organizations represented by NCCVC will select a winner and the process will begin.

Since the County will be working on the building and painting be part of the process, the mural might simply be the finishing touches on the rear of the building. Got ideas???? Provide your Thoughts!!!

Grass Valley's Vice, Mayor Haven Caravelli, will join us on Veterans Day and present information on the banner program and other city support activities.

#2

The City of Grass Valley looks forward to honoring our Veterans and active Military on a routine and appropriate basis. Banners will be constructed and displayed on the town's light poles. While details are still being thought out and poles counted, the City is not against these banners being used as fund raisers for Veterans and Active military support. Stay tuned, find your good photo, let's target Spring of 2026 ... Maybe Armed Forces Day ... for the start of something good.
