Since last months news I did purchase Martha's book. I began reading only to discover that one of the first heroes she wrote about is likely the Grandson of a gentleman I knew well. Gramps Bob was a fellow sailing enthusiast in the Bay Area.
Kevin got to go through the fun in Afghanistan. At one point he was the focus of a unique rescue having been wounded and collapsing off a steep cliff. Our Claude would know about the fun of hovering a Helo next to a steep grade so crew could grab the wounded. He recovered ... then went back. Earned the Silver Star
That was chapter 4 ... look forward to the rest.

We were very happy to let the Durgin Family know that the City of Grass Valley would be
hanging their Navy hero's banner and that the family was welcome to be present. Thank you Jeff, a VFW member and family friend, for supporting the Durgins on the day. Thank you Sandra for taking great photos as usual.
